Empties #28

Before I moved I had an entire box filled with products that I’d use up but I never got to share them with you guys (mainly because it would have been pointless packing up a box of rubbish to take with me!) Over the past couple of months I’ve been focusing on trying to use up product and while I have a few products that are nearly finished but not quite there yet, I do have a small selection to share with you, here they are.

I do have a few empties this month but I also have some products that I’ve decided to toss out, these are because I’ve had them for a very long time and they’re past their expiry dates so I don’t want to risk any infection or reactions.

Throwing out
Illamasqua Gleam Highlighter in Aurora
I’ve had this cream highlighter for a few years now, originally I planned on using it up. I hadn’t used it as much as I wanted to as I found that it moved my base makeup too much which drop me crazy. I did check to see how close I was to hitting pan and I was nowhere near. Since this has most likely past its expiry date I’ve decided to throw it before it changes scent or consistency.
Repurchase? No.

Seventeen High Drama Liquid Liner
I was given this liquid liner some time ago. I do like it, it’s quite black and it stays on however, I believe this needs throwing as it’s started to burn my eyes when I use it. Thankfully I’ve not suffered any damage but that tells me it’s time top stop using this and throw it away. I’d buy this myself however, I currently have an unopened Rimmel liner to try.
Repurchase? Yes.

Seventeen Make Your Mark Liner
I was also given this felt tip liner, I’ve tried it a couple of times but since it was already open it’s started to dry up. I’ve decided to toss this and if I want to try it properly I’ll just buy it in the future.
Repurchase? No.

Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipstick in Belle
I’ve had this lipstick for a while and I’ve very nearly used it up. It’s a very sheer pinky nude that is almost like a tinted balm than a lipstick. I’ve had this for so long the remainder has melted in the tube which makes it difficult to use, I’ve decided to get rid. It was nice to use but I do prefer lipsticks with more pigment than this.
Repurchase? No.

What Skin Needs Facial Serum
This was sent from a PR. When I first tried this I was surprised by how quickly it sinks in plus it smells like lemon. The downside is that this is more of an oil and it feels quite heavy on the skin. I felt like this was blocking my pores and potentially breaking me out so I’ve decided to finally let it go – I did use up at least half of the bottle though.
Repurchase? No.

Used up
Beauty Formulas Tea Tree Deep Cleansing Face Mask
I quite liked this face mask, it was good for bringing spots to the surface and easing any oiliness and I used it on skin that was tough. Though I did like this I actually prefer the Glorious Mud one by the same brand so I’d repurchase that instead.
Repurchase? No.

Estee Lauder Doublewear Foundation
This is the kind of product that I hate to love. I do love it, in fact I wear it daily to work as it’s the only foundation that stays on all day. The drawback is that it’s around £30 so it’s pricey to replace!
Repurchase? Already have.

Garnier The Nourisher Hair Mask Sample
I quite liked this, it smells nice and left my hair silky soft, I don’t need one at the moment as my hair is quite soft but if I started dyeing my hair again I’d definitely use this to keep it hydrated.
Repurchase? No.

Impulse Rock & Love Mini Bodyspray
This isn’t a bodyspray I thought to try myself I was given it a few years ago but wow it smells amazing and I think it could possibly be my new favourite. I’d definitely get this again.
Repurchase? Yes.

Impulse Tease Bodyspray
An old favourite, this is one I’ve used time and time again I just love the red fruits notes in this! I do think that this may have been eclipsed though by Rock and Love so I’ll hold on repurchasing this.
Repurchase? No.

So…? Superstar Bodyspray
Another old favourite, this one isn’t actually a fruity scent instead it’s a seductive, sweet floral. What I love about this one is that it smells so much more sophisticated and high end than it actually is. I’ve had compliments on my perfume when I’ve actually been wearing this!
Repurchase? Yes.

Soap and Glory Supercat Liner
Like with all of the felt liners I’ve tried this started out promising with the felt tip and black formula but over time this became more and more watery until it was more of a grey than a black. I could still use this but I’m just not reaching for it, it’s had it’s time so it’s time to go!
Repurchase? No.

Wella Silvikrin Ultra Strong Power Hold Hairspray
I’ve actually gone though a can of this before so I would probably repurchase this. At the moment though I’ve decided to try a new hairspray so won’t repurchase just yet. This is fairly decent in terms of hold and I like how the hair remains relatively flexible.
Repurchase? Not yet.

So there we have it, another bag of rubbish ready to go into the bin and another set of mini reviews. I’m still debating whether to keep doing empties post so let me know in the comments if you enjoy them or find them a bit boring?

Thanks for reading!

    Well done!
Cream highlighters are a challenge – I always find they disturb my foundation underneath unless I dab really carefully with a sponge – too much effort!
