WoodWick Exotic Spices Trilogy Candle Review

I’ve previously admitted my love for scented candles and I truly believed I’d found all of the ones I needed as a loyal Yankee Candle lover – until that is I stumbled across WoodWick. In search of a change and unable to resist the scent of coffee, cinnamon and rum I was intrigued by the Exotic Spices Trilogy, here’s my thoughts.

Housed in large hourglass shaped glass jars, the visuals isn’t the only thing that is to be admired of the WoodWick Trilogy candles. With three scents – one melting into the next, you get a deep, rich scent from these candles plus a crackling wick that sounds like a real fire burning. These are not much more expensive than Yankee either at £25.99 for a large jar.

WoodWick describe the Exotic Spices candle as the following:
Sit back and enjoy the gorgeously fragranced WoodWick Exotic Spices Trilogy Large. Each colour layer features a different fragrance (cinnamon chai, ground cinnamon and spiced rum). As the candle burns, each fragrance and colour melts into the next layer, creating a unique new fragrance. This luxuriously scented candle will burn for up to 180 hours. The handy lid doubles as a heatproof mat to use while you’re burning the candle. Nothing adds quaint charm to a home like a high quality candle.

WoodWick candles use only the best natural ingredients in their candle range to produce fresh scents that fill your home. Only natural components mixed with wax, never any harsh artificial ingredients. Inside each and every candle is a special Pluswick made of natural wood. When lit, you will hear the soothing sound of a crackling fire. Combined with the uplifting fragrance of the Exotic Spices Trilogy candle, this gentle crackling effect adds depth to any room.”

There is a variety of scents to choose from however, it was the Exotic Spices candle that drew me in, with three layers: Cinnamon Chai, Ground Cinnamon and Spiced Rum this candle is autumn in a nutshell with layers of rich scent with a large throw, your room will instantly smell homely and inviting.

What I think really stands out with these candles is the quality. The scent is strong but not overpowering whilst remaining genuine  – there’s no synthetic scents here this really did smell just like cinnamon and rum. The burn time was at least twenty hours – well worth the money considering the luxurious experience that this evokes.

The wick of course is something that simply must be discussed. I find that Yankee wicks are flimsy and often get buried in the wax and have to be dug out. The cross-shaped Pluswick used in Woodwick is made of a type of wood that crackles as it burns, not trimming is required for this, simply crumble away the ashes and then continue to use as normal. The wick is even throughout the candle and the design means that the candle doesn’t just burn down the center, you can enjoy every last drop of the wax.

Overall, I’m a convert, these candles aren’t cheap but they’re definitely up there in quality. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed burning a candle so much in my life and trust me there’s some seriously amazing Yankee Candles that I love. Overall, I’d definitely repurchase another WoodWick candle and if you haven’t yet what are you waiting for? I dare you not to fall in love.

The WoodWick Exotic Spices Trilogy Candle is available from Boots for £25.99.
