I still love twist up lip crayons and I had a serious love affair with the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balms, so I was excited to give the Collection Matt Lip Butters a whirl, as they look so similar. I’ve been really enjoying this over the past week, so here’s my thoughts!
Similar to the Revlon Matte Balms, the Collection Work The Colour Matte Lip Butters come in a handy twist up crayon. This is the shade Marshmallow Pink which is a lovely muted pink, perfect for everyday wear. These are super budget friendly at only £2.99.
As mentioned above Marshmallow Pink is a very wearable pink shade. It’s on the warmer side of pink so it looks very feminine and girly. My favourite lip crayon by Revlon had to be the shade Elusive, and I’m going to be honest, I passed the Revlon one on to a friend after swatching it side by side with this, in terms of colour and formula these are identical, so this is definitely a dupe.
I often find that a lot of lip products that claim to be matte are actually not very matte at all but this definitely is matte. Despite the matte finish this isn’t very drying although I would advise exfoliating the lips before wearing this as it could cling to any dry patches (it didn’t on me.)
The formula is also very comfortable on the lips, it doesn’t feel very heavy, it glides on hence the ‘butter’ in the name and it doesn’t flake or dry the lips out either. I find this to be a great everyday product as it’s so flattering and so easy to wear, it’s not too dissimilar to my natural lip colour but perhaps a little brighter, you can tell that you have lipstick on but it’s not crazy in your face.
(Note, my lips were very dry when I applied this, can you tell?)
The wear time of this is also pretty good, it’s not going to last all day but it fades evenly and doesn’t blled, smudge or leave any rings of colour. Typically I can get a good few hours of wear out of this before needing to reapply, it’s the perfect lazy girl item and it’s fast become a staple of mine!
Overall, I’m very impressed, I’d definitely repurchase this and recommend! The only downside to this is that there’s only three shades in the range (this, an orange and a red) so please Collection make more shades because this is amazing!
The Collection Matt Lip Butters are available here for £2.99 each.
