When these lipsticks first came out I wasn’t too excited, nothing in particular stood out to me and I’d heard mixed reviews, until of course I went into Boots and swatched them for myself and realised how pigmented they were. I did of course buy a shade (Petunia) and I have so say it’s been a lovely lipstick to wear this month, here’s my thoughts.
* Apologies for the dark photo at the end of this post, it turned from a bright day to dark clouds instantly and sadly the photo came out quite dark, the swatch is way more true to colour than the photo of me wearing the lipstick.
Although the packaging is quite sleek and modern I have to say this just doesn’t really stand out to me. When I’m perusing the aisles of a store I need a product to have decent packaging for it to really jump out at me, had I not been looking for this I probably wouldn’t notice it. I’ve also found that the twist up mechanism is a little weird it kind of clicks and twist but the product comes up very slowly and sometimes it comes up too much smushing the top which is quite annoying.
Thankfully the product more than makes up for it. I have the shade Petunia which is a really beautiful raspberry pink shade, I don’t know what it is with me at the moment but I’m obsessed with raspberry pinks on the lips I just absolutely adore them and this is no exception.
As mentioned earlier the swatch is more indicative of colour than the photo on my lips is, as you can see this is a darker pink shade which is really quite beautiful. This is nice and bright and has a silky formula that glides onto the lips and doesn’t dry them out.
As if that wasn’t enough the scent is really fruity and it lingers under the nose which I love, the finish is really unusual it is a satin finish but then when you press your lips together in turns demi-matte which I actually quite like, it also fades evenly no flaking or bleeding although I will say that this is a lipstick that will smudge when eating or drinking.
Overall I’m really impressed, I would pick up more shades, I just hope that the twisty packaging will be improved, a smoother twist mechanism would be nice this one is creaky almost like it’s rusty or old. Apart from that though I would repurchase and recommend.
