The leaves are turning, the days are colder and dark nails are back in fashion. I happen to love dark nails so I’ve rounded up some of my favourite polishes at different budgets to share with you.
Top Row (L-R): Calvin Klein Splendid Nail Enamel in Red Red, No7 Stay Perfect Nail Polish in Damson Dream, Illmasqua Nail Lacquer in Vice, Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Watermelon, Illamasqua Nail Lacquer in Poke.
Bottom Row (L-R): Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in Black Star, Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in Decadent, Cuccio Colour Nail Colour in Brooklyn Never Sleeps, Natural Collection Nail Polish in Cosmic Crush, Nails Inc Nail Polish in Wigmore Street.
Calvin Klein Splendid Nail Enamel in Red Red
A pink toned red polish which is great for ladies who are looking for a polish that is a transitional shade from Summer to Autumn, needs a few coats and can chip easily, but a budget friendly option.
No7 Stay Perfect Nail Polish in Damson Dream
A deep wine colour bordering on burgundy, has a beautiful formula but does require two coats, had a decent longevity and lasts for ages without chipping, a little bit pricier than Calvin Klein but still within a drugstore or high street price range, has minute shimmer particles.
Illamasqua Nail Lacquer in Vice (Rubberised Finish)
More expensive almost fifteen pounds per polish (or do what I do and raid TK MAXX for them), this has a rubberised finish so is similar to colouring in the nails with a marker which I’m not a fan of. Lasts well and has a deep cerise colour.
Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Watermelon
A deep blue toned green almost like a deep teal or an inky green, has a beautifully glossy finish and good longevity, great for those who want to avoid the stereotypical purples for fall.
Illamasqua Nail Lacquer in Poke
A beautiful shimmery pale purple that looks gorgeous on the nails. Has a shimmery finish and a longevity, but again is more expensive than your standard nail polish. Two coats is require for maximum opacity, great for ladies who prefer paler colours on their nails.
Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in Black Star
Doesn’t dry noticeably faster but has a great longevity, sadly these are discontinued but if you see them wholesale they are worth a try. This shade is not a black but is more of a gunmetal grey shot though with silvered shimmer, very pretty and a quirky twist on black nails.
Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in Decadent
From the same range as the previous polish so not as accessible, what I love about this is that it’s a purple duochrome that shines blue in the light, really pretty and again something fresh rather than standard purple. Great longevity, but not as “top speed” as it may sound.
Cuccio Colour Nail Colour in Brooklyn Never Sleeps
I’m not generally a fan of the Cuccio Nail Polishes at all but this is the best of the bunch, a nice colour but on the pricier side, plus the formula is nothing mindblowing, this is a lovely Cadbury purple though.
Natural Collection Nail Polish in Cosmic Crush
For a budget nail polish this isn’t bad at all but I have had polishes that have been budget friendly and a little better. This is average polish bit it is a lovely purple colour plus it won’t break the bank, great for girls who don’t want to spend too much but want to stay on trend.
Nails Inc Nail Polish in Wigmore Street
This does chip a little (in the photo I had had it on for at least three days) so it won’t last as long as say Barry M Gelly Hi Shines, this is also a little pricier, but this coloue is beautiful a really deep blue toned violet that is particularly flattering on pale skin. Great for paler girls who want contrasting nails.
That round up my Autumn Nail Polish Edit, I hope that you enjoyed this post and if you did please hit the like button. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these and what your favourite polishes are for autumn/fall.
