So I was looking through my posts and I realised that I haven’t actually done a post on hair yet which is crazy as I use tons of hair products, so in this post I’m going to look at ten common hair problems and recommend a product to fix it.
All products have been tried by me however please bear in mind that this is from my personal experience so what works for me might not necessarily work for you.
One of the worst problems is having dry hair particularly on the ends whether it be due to overusing bleach to you needing a hair cut to you just naturally having dry hair, whatever the reason it’s a bummer. So I’ve mentioned this product before and it’s Henna Treatment Wax created by Richards and Appleby. The product is a deep conditioner which softens, smooths and reviltalises dry and damaged hair. Don’t be fooled by the word “Henna” this product does not colour hair it simply restores it to a glossier state. It’s available from Bodycare for as little as £2 for a huge tub and should definitely be a staple for those with dry and damaged hair.

Just as there’s plenty of people suffering with dry hair there’s also plenty who suffer from overly greasy hair which can be royal pain especially if you wash it regularly and it still looks greasy. For those suffering with greasy hair I would recommend the Batiste Dry Shampoo. I’ve mentioned this before by my favourite dry shampoo of all time has to be Bastiste Dry Shampoo in Blush. It has a nice sweet/floral delicate scent which is enough to keep your hair smelling fresh but not overpowering. Dry Shampoo is an aerosol product to use you simply spray onto your hair near the roots, massage it in and then brush it out and voila refreshed none greasy hair. Don’t be fooled by the multitude of bad reviews about this product most people complain about white residue which only happens if you don’t follow the instructions or spray way too much. One to two sprays will do the trick.
So for those with greasy hair, here’s your saviour!
Bastiste’s Dry Shampoo is available for £1 at Bodycare or you can buy it here.
So you’ve dyed your hair on an impulse aiming for that lovely shade of blonde, only it’s turned mousey and you hate it, how can you possibly get the colour to come out quickly? Easy peasy just try this. Neutrogena’s T/Gel shampoo is actually designed for those with dandruff. It does have a horrible medicinal smell and it can be quite pricey but it’s surprisingly excellent for stripping colour out of your hair. So if you have bad hair dye job invest in some of this and get washing and it’ll be out in no time.

Alternatively you’ve dyed your hair, you love the colour but whichever shampoo you seem to use keeps making it fade ultra quickly, what do you do?
Well there’s a multitude of colour protect shampoos out there all promising to prevent your hair colour from fading but I’ve noticed that they seem to pull the colour out quicker so I use the Alberto Balsam products. It seems surprising but I’ve been dying my hair different colours for nine years and this product always seems to prevent the colour from fading as quickly. Obviously the colour still fades over time as it grows out or eventually washes out depending on if you’re using a permanent or semi permanent hair dye but Alberto Balsam shampoo and conditioners have definitely made a difference to my hair, and it smells all fresh like apples as well. The shampoo and conditioners are a pound each in Bodycare or you can purchase them here.
Dandruff is one of those things that everyone gets at some point whether you’re prone to it or you rushed your shower and still had shampoo left in your hair. The strange thing is that people always act like it’s the most disgusting thing in the world and it can definitely leave you feeling unconfident. Fear no longer however because there is a cure and it’s the Head and Shoulders range. It may seem like an obvious choice but head and shoulders really does work wonders. As a child I got dandruff a lot and I always used this product and now I never get any. For those with dandruff you don’t have to worry about a horrible itch or your clothes looking like a they were in a snowstorm because this product banishes dandruff and the different versions mean that they now cure hair from other troubles as well.
So for people with naturally wavy/curly hair like me frizz can be a huge problem especially when you’re in a rush in a morning. There are several serums that supposedly banish frizz but I’m not a fan of serums as a lot of them tend to be really oily and make your hair greasy. I am a fan however of the V05 Curl Defining Mousse. Anyone who has read other posts on my blog will have probably seen me raving on about this but ever since I was bought some for Christmas it has truly become a staple product for me. Unlike most mousses this one doesn’t leave your hair dry and crispy but instead softens the hair and creatures layers of textured yet defined curls with added heat defence thrown in. I’m a big fan of V05 products and this one definitely hasn’t disappointed, so if your on a quest to banish the frizz then I would definitely recommend it to you.

Dull And Lifeless Hair
It happens to us all at some point, for whatever reason, too much hair dying or way too much time in the sun can cause hair to look dull and lifeless, but now you can get an instant pick me up. I’ve bought Schwarzkopf Gliss Shine Tonic before and I can confirm that it’s really good. One spray makes your hair instantly smell yummy and of course adds a nice shine to it. Used in succession as with all products your hair will end up feeling itchy until they’re all washed out but generally speaking this product is weightless and really does give you that glossy shine that you see on the cover of Vogue and for a mere £2.49.

My hair is very fine and thin despite being naturally wavy/curly so when it’s straightened naturally it ends up limp and hanging down – or it did until I discovered the V05 Oomph Powder. The V05 Give Me Texture Instant Oomph Powder creates volume without the crispiness and heaviness of hairspray. To use all you have to do is sprinkle some of the product into your roots and massage it in before fluffing up your hair and there you go instant volume. Although the product isn’t as cheap as some of the other products I’ve mentioned a little really does go a long way so think of it as an investment. The only complaint I have is that if you use too much or combine it with tons of other products it does leave your hair sticky and greasy looking so use it sparingly.

As soon as people think of straight hair they think of hair straighteners but not a lot of people are aware of the fact that you can buy tame and shine spray to de-tangle, soften and straighten the hair without creating frizz. The V05 Smoothly Does It Tame & Shine Spray is very weightless and instantly works at de-tangling hair to prevent curls and knots which helps you create a sleek and straight hairstyle. It’s not expensive and a large can goes a long way, with added heat defence and a nice smell what have you got to lose?

Fine and Wispy Hair
If there’s one thing which I really hate it’s flyaway hairs and hair falling out of ponytails which I end up with all the time having thin and wavy hair. I’ve tried a number of products but what I fell in love with was the Fudge Urban Iced Raspberry and Vanilla hairspray. Unlike most hairsprays Fudge Urban Iced Raspberry and Vanilla hairspray is excellent for holding your hair in place without making it crispy. The product is weightless although it still does an excellent job and the smell is absolutely gorgeous as opposed to the usual chemical and cloying smells of most hairsprays. For me Urban Fudge is one of my favourite hair brands and for the half price deal I got it at in Superdrug you can’t go wrong!
